XLATE is a program originally written to translate Russian RTTY messages from the Baudot Cyrillic equivalent into relatively readable English. It does a simple one to one translation and does not attempt to resolve the grammar, thats your job! At least it makes sense out of apparent jibberish. Given the appropriate dictionary it will translate any language.

XLATE will replace words in text with the equivalents found in the dictionary. Words, phrases or characters can be translated using any dictionary. The resulting translation can be printed or filed.

Edit facilities are provided for the translated text to allow corrections to be made to the text where transmission or spelling errors have occurred. The corrected words may then be translated.

CYRIL is a program to convert Russian RTTY words to their correct Cyrillic equivalent. You may then search a Russian/English dictionary to find translations, insert them into the dictionary file and sort the dictionary file into alphabetic order.
